Watching Freddy Jones as a 6th, 7th and 8th grader was a clear indication of the future in store for him.  He was the Oregon High School Player-Of-The-Year at Barlow High School, one of the greatest players in the history of University of Oregon Basketball and a first round draft choice by the Indiana Pacers of the NBA.  Betsy Boardman, from Beaverton High School, was an excellent player as a 6th, 7th and 8th grader in our tournaments.  She will be a junior at Arizona State University this season where she has started since her freshman year.  Aaron Miles and Michael Lee led Jefferson High School to a state championship 2 years ago.  Last season Miles was the starting point guard and Lee was strong in coming off the bench for the Kansas Jayhawks.  We have many great memories of Aaron and Michael playing together for the Cisco Kids in our tournaments.  Brian Jackson, a starter for Oregon State University, played in our tournaments for a small town called Knappa, just outside of Astoria.  Brian and his teammates played in most of our tournaments and in high school, they won the 2A state basketball championship for Knappa High School.  Sabrina Scott was an excellent player for Lakeridge as a 6th, 7th and 8th grader.  Today, she is a senior and a solid player for the University of Colorado.
     Over the past 10 years, most of Oregon and Southwest Washington’s best high school athletes played in our Great 48 Tournaments as youngsters.  We mention “athletes” because so many of the Northwest’s best Football, Soccer, Baseball and Softball players were playing youth basketball in our tournaments.  Luke Staley is enjoying his first season in the NFL, this year, with the Detroit Lions.  He played for Brigham Young University and enjoyed his beginning years in basketball playing for youth teams from Tualatin in the Great 48 Tournaments.  We have seen so many great athletes over the years.  It has really been fun watching them move on to high school, college and even the pros.  Every year, we watch new future high school stars emerge from our tournaments.  Listed below, you will find a partial list of athletes that started their careers playing in these Great 48 tournaments.  As we grow older, our memories become more faint, so please help us make this list more comprehensive, as well as more correct.  We welcome any additions or corrections.
